Research Project: REMOTE ASSESSMENT OF AGRO-ECOSYSTEMS

Objective:
To meet the needs of producers in the Northern Great Plains, this cooperative research program between ARS and UND Aerospace will: 1) Develop new and innovative methodologies to assess land-use/land-cover changes in northern prairie grassland landscapes, including assessment of conservation practices that minimize offsite impacts; and 2) Quantitatively evaluate forage quality and quanity under variable climactic conditions.

Approach:
Results from research will be integrated with other available information and data to develop integrated information systems using remote sensing technology to achieve site-specific best-management practices.
