Youth Violence Prevention

Youth violence is a top priority for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and community members across the nation. In spite of consistent decreases in juvenile violent crime arrests nationwide since 1994 (see Juvenile Offenders and Victims: 2006 National Report), many localities continue to seek information and strategies to better prevent and respond to youth violence.

This resource identifies useful Web sites and federal publications on a variety of youth violence topics. Review OJJDP's Predictors of Youth Violence to identify risk factors related to youth violence as a starting point for creating strong violence prevention programs or improving existing efforts. Access OJJDP's Model Program Guide to review evidence-based prevention and intervention programs.
