National Missing Children's Day

In 1983, President Ronald W. Reagan proclaimed May 25 as National Missing Children’s Day in memory of Etan Patz, a 6-year-old boy who disappeared from a New York City street corner on that day in 1979. On this 25th anniversary of Missing Children’s Day, we honor Etan's memory and the memory of those children who are still missing, celebrate the stories of recovery, and pay tribute to the law enforcement officers and citizens nationwide for their tireless commitment to recovering missing children and combating child exploitation.
