Near Perfect Election Day Weather Expected Statewide Today...Patchy Fog and Sprinkles Possible This Morning Until Around 10am Before Clearing Skies and Normal Temperatures Expected By the Afternoon...An Elevated Risk of Rip Currents Continues Along East Coast Beaches...

Updated 7:30 AM EDT Tuesday

High pressure both at the surface and in the upper levels of the atmosphere will build into the state today from the north as two areas off low pressure of the Southeastern U.S. coast move northward towards the Mid-Atlantic States. A weak area of low pressure near the Bahamas may produce isolated sprinkles along some East Coast locations this morning, but a generally dry day is expected statewide.

Voters heading to the polls this morning may encounter patchy areas of fog, but low clouds and fog are expected to dissipate by the afternoon yielding partly to mostly sunny skies with light north winds statewide. Therefore, near perfect Election Day weather conditions are expected today.

Daytime max temperatures will be close to normal values today, with forecast highs in the low to mid 70s across North Florida, upper 70s across Central Florida, and in the low and mid 80s across South Florida. Overnight low temperatures across North Florida are forecast to range from the low 50s inland to the mid and upper 60s along the coast. Low temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s are expected across Central Florida tonight, with temperatures ranging from the mid 60s to low 70s across South Florida, including the Florida Keys. Also, areas of patchy fog are possible again late tonight across portions of the entire state.

Winds will shift to the north today. While this will gradually decrease the risk for rip currents, the shape of the Northeast and East Central Florida coastline will contribute to a moderate risk of rip currents at East Coast beaches between Fernandina Beach and Jupiter Inlet today.

In the tropics, a broad area of low pressure in the southwestern Caribbean Sea near Nicaragua continues to produce a large area of disorganized storm activity. Atmospheric conditions are somewhat favorable for some slow development over the next few days as it drifts to the northwest.
