Local Home Improvement Centers Host FEMA Outreach

Charleston, W. VA. -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) representatives will be available at Lowes in St. Clairsville, Ohio and the Robert Scott LumberYard in Wellsburg, West Virginia, providing general assistance on cleanup and flood damage prevention (mitigation) methods.
Representatives will be at these home improvement centers November 1-14, explaining techniques that lessen or prevent damage to homes, businesses and property from future flooding.
FEMA, in partnership with the state of West Virginia and the FEMA Joint Field Office (JFO) in Ohio, will provide one-on-one assistance to those who stop by to chat. They will have brochures on the National Flood Insurance Program and provide general information about rebuilding and retrofitting to reduce flood hazards.
The building center outreach program will take place at the following times and places:
Monday, November 1 – Sunday, November 7 (Outreach station closed on Tuesdays)

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
