Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers To Visit Cabell, Wayne Counties

CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- State and federal officials announced that mobile Disaster Recovery Centers to assist people recovering from Hurricane Ivan will visit Cabell and Wayne counties for three days each later this week. Residents who need information on the status of a disaster aid application already filed, or have questions about the U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest loan program, or other questions, can receive help at the DRCs.

Individuals are encouraged to register by calling the FEMA toll free number before visiting the DRC so they can receive information related directly to their case. The toll-free teleregistration number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Persons who are hearing- or speech-impaired can register by calling TTY number, 1-800-462-7585. The phone lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week until further notice.
On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
