CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- State and federal officials announce the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Pleasants County on Wednesday, September 29. Residents who need information on the status of an application already filed, who have questions about the U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest loan program or other questions, can receive help at the DRC.

The Pleasants County DRC information follows:

Hours: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. daily (until further notice)

Individuals are encouraged to register by calling the FEMA toll free number before visiting a DRC so they can receive information directly related to their case. The toll-free teleregistration number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Persons who are hearing- or speech-impaired can register by calling TTY number, 1-800-462-7585. The phone lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week until further notice.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
