New Disaster Recovery Centers For Roderfield, Avondale; Matoaka Closes

Beckley, WV -- The Matoaka Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) ends operations this weekend, and new centers in Roderfield and Avondale open on Tuesday, May 28, to assist individuals affected by the severe storms, flooding and landslides of early May. Meanwhile, the Mobile DRC in Montcalm will extend operations through Wednesday, May 29.

Roderfield DRC
When: Opens Tuesday, May 28
Where: Fall River Elementary School, Route 7
Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice (closed Sundays)
Directions: On Route 7, turn at Exxon Kwic Mart (Route 52)

Avondale Mobile DRC
When: Opens Tuesday, May 28
Where: In front of the Sandy River Middle School, Route 80
Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice (closed Sundays)

Montcalm Mobile DRC
When: Extends operations through Wednesday, May 29
Where: Next to Montcalm Fire Department, Route 71
Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice (closed Sundays)

Matoaka DRC
When: Closes 5 p.m., Saturday, May 25
Where: Town Hall/Recreation, 100 Valley St.

Officials from the West Virginia Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have established the centers to provide answers to questions, recovery information and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners.

Individuals who have been affected by the disaster are urged to start the application process before visiting a center by calling FEMA's toll-free number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Hearing- and speech-impaired individuals may call TTY at 1-800-462-7585.
