Two Disaster Recovery Centers Opening Today

Hagatna, Guam -- Two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will open Tuesday, July 16 to help those who have suffered damage from Typhoon Chata'an, disaster officials announced today.

The Centers will open in two island locations. They will be located at the Yigo Gym, Rt 1, Yigo and Merizo Community Center at the Merizo Mayor's office.

Both locations will be open Tuesday and Wednesday only this week. The remainder of the week they will be used by the Department of Health & Social Services (DPHSS) for food stamp distribution. They will reopen on Sunday, July 21.

Hours of operation for the two centers are Tuesday July 16 & Wednesday, July 17 - 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday, Friday & Saturday DPHSS services; and Sunday, July 21, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Hours thereafter will be Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Additional locations are being assessed and will be announced once facilities are ready to be opened.

Representatives from federal, local and volunteer agencies will staff the centers. Language interpreters will also be available to assist disaster victims.
