Dr. Patricia D. Galloway is the chief executive officer of Pegasus Global Holdings, Inc. an international management consulting firm. Dr. Galloway was the first woman to serve as president of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in the organization's 154-year history, her proudest accomplishment by being able to serve as a role model to young women engineers. She is currently the Vice Chair of the National Science Board with her term ending in 2012.

She is a licensed professional engineer in fourteen U.S. states, Canada and Australia, a certified project management professional, and a certified forensic claims consultant. An internationally recognized leader in civil engineering and construction, Dr. Galloway sees engineering education as the number one challenge facing engineers today as current education does not provide for the soft skills necessary to survive in the 21st Century.

Having traveled to nearly 100 countries, Dr. Galloway is known for experience and expertise in global engineering and construction. Her industry experience spans over 30 years and includes power, oil and gas, transportation, infrastructure, process and specialty structures. She is a globally recognized expert in risk management, project management, project controls, and management issues. She has testified extensively as an expert witness and has served as an arbitrator in both international and domestic venues.

She also lectures around the world on topics such as leadership, globalization, risk management, engineering education, and women in engineering. In addition to her work for companies in her areas of expertise, she also provides training to both corporations and non-profit professional organizations. She is an elected member of the National Academy of Construction (NAC) and the Pan American Academy of Engineering, where she serves on the board of directors.

She received a Distinguished Engineering Alumna award from Purdue in 1992. She holds a Ph.D. in Infrastructure Systems Engineering (Civil) from Kochi University of Technology in Japan, an MBA from the NY Institute of Technology and a Bachelor degree in civil engineering, specializing in structural design and construction management from Purdue University.

She is the author of The 21st Century Engineer-A proposal for engineering education reform, published by ASCE Press.

Galloway was appointed to the National Science Board in 2006 and elected Vice chairman in 2008. She chairs the Task Force for the NSF 60th Anniversary.
