New York Officials Announce Labor Day Hours

ALBANY, N.Y. -- State and Federal officials announced the Labor Day schedule for disaster recovery services.

Disaster Assistance Service Centers will be closed on Monday, September 4. The centers are located at:

Both centers will resume normal hours of operation Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. State and federal personnel at these centers will be on hand to answer program questions, assist individuals in determining the status of their applications, and help resolve application issues.

The New York State Individual and Family Grant Program telephone registration line also will be closed on Monday, September 5. Lines will reopen on Tuesday through Friday with normal business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Flood victims can call 1-888-7-NYS-AID (1-888-769-7243) or TTY: NYS Relay 711. Flood victims can also register online at www.labor.state.ny.us. New York State’s Helpline at 1-888-329-7540 will also be closed on Monday, but will reopen on Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information on flood recovery assistance programs managed by the Empire State Development Corporation, call 1-800-STATE-NY or go online at www.empire.state.ny.us/flood_grant.

For federal programs, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) line will be open on Monday, Labor Day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Flood victims can call at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY: 1-800-462-7585. Flood victims can also register online at www.fema.gov. The FEMA Helpline number is the same as the registration number: 1-800-621 FEMA.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
