Controlling Power Plant Emissions

On December 1, 2004, EPA issued a Notice of Data Availability (NODA) supporting EPA's proposed Clean Air Mercury Rule. The NODA summarized the modeling analyses presented by EPA and the commenters, and solicited comment on the inputs and assumptions underlying those analyses. The NODA also received comment on EPA’s benefits assessment.
EPA received over 680,0001 public comments, including more than 5,000 unique comments, on the rule, proposed in January 2004, and the related supplemental proposal, issued in March 2004. EPA received comments on the Agency's modeling results, including our modeling assumptions. The Agency also received modeling analyses conducted by different commenters, some of which used models and/or assumptions different from EPA.
The public comment period closed January 3, 2005. Comments received after the close of the comment period will be marked "late." EPA is not required to consider these late comments.
