Passes

Most National Forest System lands are open, free of charge for your use and enjoyment; however, entrance or user fees may be charged at some areas under the provisions of the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, established by Congress to replace the former Fee Demo program.

The Act is being implemented on the White Mountain National Forest.

At present, passes are required at some trailhead parking lots and day use facilities that are marked as fee areas. Almost all the proceeds from these passes stay on the Forest and are used for improving your experience. Special nation-wide passes, such as the Interagency Annual Pass, Interagency Senior Pass, Interagency Access Pass, Golden Eagle Pass, Golden Age Pass, and Golden Access Pass are valid on the WMNF.

You can obtain a White Mountain National Forest use pass in a number of different places, including any WMNF office or information center, or from vendors. You can also print an order form and send a completed copy to us (allow 10 days turnaround time for mail orders). We hope to add online ordering, but this is not yet possible

Holders of the Interagency, Golden Eagle, Golden Age, or Golden Access passes are not required to purchase a White Mountain pass. However, while parked at a fee site, the card must be displayed on the dash of the pass-holder's vehicle.
