System of Systems Tools
System of Systems Tools
- UV Index - Developed by the National Weather Service (NWS) and EPA, the UV Index predicts the next day's ultraviolet radiation levels on a 0-11+ scale, helping people determine appropriate sun-protective behaviors.
- Air Quality Index (AQI) - The AQI is an index for reporting daily air quality. It tells you how clean or polluted your air is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for you. The AQI focuses on health effects you may experience within a few hours or days after breathing polluted air. [Metadata]
- Environmental Radiation Ambient Monitoring System (ERAMS) - A searchable database containing 23 years of environmental radiation monitoring data from all 50 states and U.S. territories and 40 years of measurements of strontium in milk. Approximately 200 stations nationwide sample the nation's air, precipitation, drinking water, surface water and milk. The database allows users to perform statistical analyses on subsets of data graphically, displaying these analyses. The ERAMS database is also linked to EPA's EnviroMapper, which allows users to display data by location. [Metadata]
- Ultraviolet Monitoring Program (UV-Net) - The EPA UV-Net Program operates and maintains a network of Brewer spectrophotometers throughout the United States which measure full-sky spectrally resolved solar radiation in the UV-B and UV-A bands. Irradiance and total column ozone concentrations are derived from the data.
- AirData : Access to Air Pollution Data - This web site gives you access to yearly summaries of United States air pollution data from ambient air monitors operated in all fifty states plus District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U. S. Virgin Islands. The site has links which provide information on where air pollution comes from (emissions), where it is measured, and how much pollution is in the air outside our homes and work places (monitoring).
- Clean Air Status and Trends Network (CASTNET) - Long-term, routine monitoring network specifically designed to determine effectiveness of national and regional emission programs and provide information on status and trends in regional air quality and atmospheric deposition.
- National Dioxin Air Monitoring Network (NDAMN) - (PDF, 5 pp., 111 KB) Results of the first year of atmospheric measurements of CCDs, CDFs and dioxin-like PCBs in rural and agricultural areas of the united states.
Databases
- AirData : Access to Air Pollution Data - AirData provides access to air pollution data for the entire United States. It produces reports and maps of air pollution data based on criteria that you specify. [Metadata]
- Air Releases (AIRS/AFS) - This site is a computer-based repository for information about air pollution in the United States designed primarily for Aerometric Information Retrieval System (AIRS) users, including, state, tribal and local air pollution management agencies, EPA Regional Offices, consultants, and environmental groups. [Metadata]
- Emissions & Generation Resource Integrated Database (eGRID) - Emissions & Generation Resource Integrated Database. eGRID is a database that provides information on the air quality attributes of almost all the electric power generated in the United States.
- Mobile Source Observation Database (MSOD) - The MSOD contains emission test data from in-use mobile air- pollution sources such as cars, trucks, and engines from trucks and nonroad vehicles. Data in the database was collected from 1982 to the present.
- Envirofacts Data Warehouse - contains information about waste, water, air, toxics, land, radiation, compliance and more. Also has a mapping application to display information from the database. [Metadata]
- National Emission Inventory Database (NEI database) - The NEI database contains information about sources that emit criteria air pollutants and their precursors, and hazardous air pollutants. The database includes estimates of annual air pollutant emissions from point, nonpoint, and mobile sources in the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. [Metadata]
- Air Trends - This site documents long-term air pollution trends in the United States and summarizes the current status of ambient air quality and emissions.
- Meteorological Data - Meteorological data, originally from the National Climatic Data Center, provided for purposes of regulatory modeling.
- Air Facility System (AFS) - Contains compliance and permit data for stationary sources regulated by the U.S. EPA and state and local air pollution agencies. AFS is used by some state and local government agencies to track permit data. [Metadata]
- Clean Air Markets - Data and Maps - Contains emissions, allowances, and other key date relating to participants in EPA's Clean Air Markets trading programs.
- Global Warming - Emissions - An annual report that identifies and quantifies the primary anthropogenic sources and sinks of greenhouse gases in the United States, which is prepared in accordance with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
- Technology Transfer Network Clearinghouse for Inventories & Emission Factors - This site contains links to information on air pollution emissions (including data for the U.S., Mexico and Canada), emission factors, various emissions-related software, tools, and models.
Partners
- Great Lakes Monitoring - A cooperative effort between the United States and Canada for conducting air and precipitation monitoring in the Great Lakes basin.
- Networked Environmental Information System for Global Emissions Inventories (NEISGEI) - An initiative to develop a global network of air emissions inventory data using the World Wide Web.
- National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) - Nationwide network of precipitation monitoring sites developed to monitor wet acid deposition.
- Interagency Monitoring of Protected Visual Environments (IMPROVE) - Interagency Monitoring of Protected Visual Environments. Routine ambient air modeling network with regionally representative coverage providing information on visibility and aerosol conditions in mandatory Class I areas, emission sources and chemical species responsible for existing visibility impairment, long-term trends for assessing progress toward national visibility improvement and regional haze. IMPROVE monitoring stations measure concentrations of gaseous and particulate phase sulfur and nitrogen species. The IMPROVE program is a cooperative effort among several agencies, states, and other groups.
