Chief Information Officer

Randy Feuerstein was appointed to the position of Director, Chief Information Office and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Bureau of Reclamation in February 2003.

The Chief Information Officer and the Chief Information Office are responsible the development, coordination, execution, and oversight of Reclamations Information Technology (IT) Program. The CIO shares with the Commissioner basic responsibility for the planning, formulation, and execution of all Reclamation IT Program activities and functions, including IT security. Responsible for implementation of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 by providing advice and assistance to the Commissioner and ensuring IT resources are acquired and managed in a manner that fully complies with applicable legislation and Federal requirements. Develops, maintains, and facilitates the implementation of a sound and integrated IT architecture for Reclamation and promotes the effective and efficient design and operation of all IT resources and processes, including improvement to work processes and IT security.

Randy began working for Reclamation in September 1975 as a Cooperative Education Program student (Meteorology). Other positions held include 10 years as a Research Meteorologist; 2 years as a Computer Specialist; 6 years as Chief, Denver/Washington Coordination Branch in the Information Resources Division; and 4 years as a Management Analyst. From March 1997 to December 2001 he served as the Manager for the Planning and Program Management Group in the Information Resources Service Division. From December 2001 through January 2003 he held the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Policy, Security, and Planning position. Randy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Metropolitan State College in 1977 and a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Phoenix in 1984. He also completed the Reclamation Manager Development Program in 1994.

Randy, his wife, Becky, have 3 children and 6 grandchildren that all reside in Colorado.
