Students are very upset with internal documents that show how poorly you regulate this area and in the past how you have ignored the concerns of your own internal scientists to cater to big business. In the automobile, tobacco and chemical industries investigative reporting and subsequent court cases have documented how big business has ignored health threats to the public or their own employees to satisfy corporate greed. In many cases that has amounted to human sacrifice for someone else's profit. We already know Mansanto lied about their rBGH testing, but were able to "buy" regulations to keep milk from being labelled as free from this potential carcinogenic chemical. There is really no need for hearings. You know what to do if you really care about serving the public or what you will do if you ignore the cautious and honest approach needed in favor of promoting the interest of big business without regard to safety issues. What it comes down to is whether this agency will value human life or not or go along with the increasing disregard to serve the public in favor of private interests.
