Health & Hospitals Hospitals, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation facilities, hospice care facilities, nursing facilities, medical warehouses, and general nursing services were all affected by Hurricane Katrina. Damages to structures, debris removal, power outages, and vehicle loss were just some of the challenges facing these much needed facilities. Getting power and temporary repairs to these much needed facilities was extremely imperative. Currently, FEMA has obligated nearly $1.1 million to Alabama for various health care facilities. The state has disbursed over $640,000 to individual health care applicants. .
