Research Project:
DEVELOP AN EFFECTIVE MATING DISRUPTION FORMULATION FOR DOGWOOD BORER TO REDUCE RELIANCE ON ORGAN-OPHOSPHATE INSECTICIDES IN APPLE ORCHARDS.
Location: Invasive Insect Biocontrol and Behavior Laboratory
Project Number: 1275-22000-234-14
Project Type:
Reimbursable
Start Date: Dec 02, 2007
End Date: Sep 30, 2009
Objective:
Establish an affordable synthetic pathway to produce synthetic (Z,Z)-3,13-ODDA with >99.5% purity.
Approach:
We will modify the procedures involving carbometallation (Gardette et al. 1983) and cyclic precursor (Uchida et al. 1979), the two most promising methods in order to develop a new synthetic path way to synthesize Z,Z-3,13-ODDA for stereoisomeric purity at >99.5%.
