Research Project: CONSERVATION AND EXCHANGE OF FRAXINUS SPP

Objective:
Identify, document, collect, conserve and utilize seeds from population of Ash (Fraxinus) species native to the Peoples Republic of China.

Approach:
Review scientific and technical literature to identify species of Fraxinus native to China that are know or suspected to be resistant to the Emerald Ash Borer. Review the above literature and herbarium vouchers to identify native populations of target species. Obtain provincial and national permissions to collect seed and herbarium specimen from identified populations. Clean and package seeds for conservation and research use in China and the U.S. Ship the U.S. share of the collected germplasm and documentation to the USDA/ARS/Plant Exchange Office.
