Tables

Pyramid Serving Intakes in the United States 1999-2002 and 1994-1998

These summary intake tables update those previously released in Table Set 1.1 (see below).  These new tables provide intakes of Pyramid servings for 30 food groups for individuals 2 years of age and older and compare them to recommendations in the USDA Food Guide Pyramid. Data from the Pyramid Servings Database for USDA Survey Food Codes Version 2.0 were used to produce these tables:

Table Set 3.0 pdf: Pyramid Serving Intakes in the United States 1999-2002, 1 Day.

Table Set 2.0 pdf: Pyramid Serving Intakes in the United States 1994-96, 1998, 1 Day.

Pyramid Servings Intakes in the United States 1994-96, 1998, 2 Days

The summary intake tables pdf in Table Set 1.1 update those previously released in Table Set 1.0 (see below). These new intake estimates were created using servings data from the Pyramid Servings Database for USDA Survey Food Codes Version 2.0 (PyrServDB_v2) which has improved estimates for servings of meat, discretionary fat, and added sugar. It is recommended that users use the most recent Pyramid serving intake estimates available. However, this table set is provided as a reference so the impact that the new method used in PyrServDB_v2 has on Pyramid serving intakes can be seen by comparing estimates from Table Sets 1.0 and 1.1.

Pyramid Servings Intakes by U.S. Children and Adults 1994-96, 1998:
CNRG Table Set 1.0 (released 2000)

The summary intake tables pdf in Table Set 1.0 compare food intakes from the 1994-96, 1998 Continuing Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals (CSFII) to servings recommendations in the 1992 USDA Food Guide Pyramid. The results include:

  • two day average Pyramid servings intakes calculated using data from Pyramid Servings Database for USDA Survey Food Codes Version 1.0
  • comparison of intakes to Pyramid servings recommendations by specific meal patterns and ages, including servings recommendations for young children 2 to 6 years old
  • summary tables for 18,071 individuals 2 years old and over, by 21 selected sex and sex-age groups
  • summary tables for single year sex-age groups for 5,437 children 2 to 5 years old and by combined groups for 1,423 children 6-9 years old
  • flexibility for reporting contributions for dry beans and peas to either the meat and meat alternate group or to the vegetable group
