Interagency Working Group on Import Safety to Hold Public Meeting
The Presidential Interagency Working Group on Import Safety will hold a public meeting on Oct. 1 to explore actions that public
and private stakeholders can take to promote the safety of imported products.
An action plan will be released by mid-November 2007 that will address feedback received from the public and recommend
specific actions the federal government and all stakeholders can take to enhance import safety on all levels.
The public meeting will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the USDA Jefferson Auditorium, 1400 Independence Ave. SW., Washington D.C.

FSIS to Co-Host Public Meeting on E. coli Non-0157 STEC
FSIS and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Food and Drug Administration's Center for Food Safety and Applied
Nutrition and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will hold a public meeting on Oct. 17.
The purpose of the meeting is to solicit input from academia, consumers, other public health and regulatory agencies and industry
on the issue of whether non-O157:H7 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STECs) should be considered to be adulterants as E. coli O157:H7.
The meeting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the George Mason University, Arlington Campus, 3401 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington, Va.
