Provenance

Eugene L. Garbáty, New York, by 1939 until 1948.[1] (Paul Drey Gallery, New York); sold 1948 to the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, New York; gift 1952 to NGA.

[1] The painting was lent by Garbáty to the 1939 New York and San Francisco World's Fair, and to an exhibition at the Fogg Art Museum in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1948.
