FEMA/State Disaster Aid Tops $2.7 Million In Kentucky

London, KY -- More than $2.7 million in state and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds have been approved for various assistance programs as flood recovery efforts continue.
Nearly 1,900 Kentuckians have requested assistance on FEMA's toll-free registration line, 1-800-621 FEMA (1-800-621-3362) and TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired. The service operates Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT.
Nearly $2.3 million has been provided to more than 1,100 families and individuals for disaster housing needs for victims whose homes are uninhabitable because of flooding.
There has been $100,957 approved in individual and family grants for more than 71 eligible recipients. Those funds are to help meet disaster-related necessary expenses of serious needs unmet by other programs. Three-fourths of this total is federally funded and the remainder is paid by the state.
The SBA has approved more than $308,800 in low-interest loans for six applicants.
June 3 is the deadline for filing a disaster assistance application and for a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest disaster loan.
A total of 30 of Kentucky's 120 counties have been declared eligible for various forms of federal assistance.
The average turnaround time for inspections of flood-damaged homes was two days.
