RALEIGH, N.C. -- Ten communities in eastern North Carolina's flood disaster area will be visited by mobile demonstration vans Nov. 30 through Dec. 5 to offer tips on rebuilding damaged homes and businesses to make them more disaster-resistant.
The mobile rebuilding information vans are a part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) national initiative to end the repetitive-loss cycle in disaster recovery by helping communities and property owners take steps to reduce the costly impact of disasters.
Two mobile centers will be on the road to demonstrate hazard mitigation measures, such as structural strengthening, elevating structures and equipment in flood zones and relocating flood-prone structures. Specialists will provide information on a range of mitigation options for all types of damage.
The centers will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. according to the following schedule:
