TEMA/FEMA To Conduct Media Blitz As Registration Deadline Nears

Nashville, TN -- Tennessee's disaster victims have only seven days left to register for assistance and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) want to make sure people hear that message loud and clear. Over the next week, TEMA/FEMA will conduct an extensive media campaign to reach as many potential applicants as possible before the July 7 deadline.
The registration number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The TDD number for those with speech or hearing impairment is 1-800-462-7585.
With the help of the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters, TEMA/FEMA will provide TV and radio stations statewide with "Countdown for Help" public service announcements telling how to apply for help and emphasizing the importance of completing the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loan applications.
Due to the extent of the tornado damage in Jackson, special emphasis will be placed on media there, with personal visits daily to radio, newspaper, and television outlets.
"We know there are people who suffered damage who - for whatever reason - haven't called," said Michael Bolch, the official in charge of the federal recovery effort. "This media effort is to reach out to as many of them as possible before it's too late."
