Disaster Recovery Center Opens In Carter County

Richmond, KY -- State and federal officials from the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have established a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to assist individuals affected by the flooding and storms that swept across the state from May 4 - 27th. The center will open in Olive Hill in Carter County on Wednesday, June 11. The DRC will be located at:

Operating Hours: 8 a.m to 7 p.m - Monday thru Saturday
The recovery staff at the center will provide answers to questions, recovery information, and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners. Persons affected by the disaster are urged to call FEMA's toll-free number at 1-800-621-3362 and apply for assistance before visiting the center. Hearing and speech impaired individuals may call TDD at 1-800-462-7585. Some disaster programs include temporary housing assistance, help for other disaster-related needs and low-interest disaster loans.
Federal Coordinating Officer Mike Butler joined State Coordinating Officer Charlie Winter in encouraging individuals affected by the disaster to visit the center. "There are many programs available for homeowners, renters, and businesses," said Butler. "This is a great opportunity for individuals to sit down with recovery program experts and get all of their questions answered concerning the recovery process."
