FEMA Helpline Offers Disaster Assistance

Richmond, KY -- With some 2,400 residents of Kentucky applying for federal and state disaster assistance, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has established a toll-free number they can use to get information about their requests.

Those who have registered with FEMA can call the Helpline at 1-800-621-3362 to get information about their applications or amend and update them. It is important that persons registered with FEMA maintain a current address and phone number in their file. The Helpline is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Disaster assistance becomes available only after residents of disaster counties who suffered losses first register with FEMA by calling the 1-800-621-3362 number. Hearing and speech impaired individuals may call TTY at 1-800-462-7585.

The disaster counties are Anderson, Breathitt, Carter, Clark, Clay, Elliot, Estill, Fayette, Floyd, Greenup, Johnson, Knott, Knox, Lawrence, Letcher, Lewis, Magoffin, Mason, Martin, Menifee, Mercer, Morgan, Nicholas, Owsley, Perry, Pike, Powell, Rowan and Woodford.
