State/FEMA DRCs Closed For Memorial Day

BILOXI, Miss. -- Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Mississippi will be closed on Monday, May 29, for the Memorial Day holiday.

Four DRCs are currently operating in the state: Biloxi, Gulfport, Ocean Springs and Waveland.

The centers will reopen on Tuesday, May 30, according to officials from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). The centers will resume their regular 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. operating hours Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Information and assistance will remain available 24 hours a day every day by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362. The TTY number for the speech-or hearing impaired is 1-800-462-7585.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 31, 2003.
