FRANKFORT, Ky. – If you have relocated due to damages to your home from recent severe storms and flooding in Kentucky, officials of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) advise you to make sure your insurance company has your current contact information.

“Recovering from a disaster is a stressful process and sometimes things slip through the cracks,” according to Michael Bolch, who is overseeing statewide recovery operations for FEMA. “It’s very important to keep the lines of communications open by keeping all your information up to date, both with your insurance carrier and with FEMA.”

Any questions you may have about insurance should be directed to the Kentucky Office of Insurance at 1-800-595-6053.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
