McKean County Gets $824,000 in Disaster Assistance

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- More than $824,000 in disaster housing and family grants have been approved for individuals in McKean County affected by severe storms and flooding Aug. 20-21.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced the following figures on federal disaster assistance for McKean County as of Wednesday.
FEMA has approved nearly $718,000 in disaster-housing grants in the county. FEMA provides these grants to homeowners for limited home repairs and rental assistance. Renters displaced by the floods may receive rental assistance for temporary housing.
Additionally, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has approved more than $106,000 in grants from the Individual and Family Grant Program. The program is funded jointly by FEMA and the state. It provides grants for serious needs and necessary expenses that are not met through other assistance and loan programs.
To date, 767 McKean County residents have registered for disaster assistance through FEMA's toll-free teleregistration number 1-800-462-9029.
