Disaster Recovery Centers To Be Open on Columbus Day; Centers Scheduled to Close Friday, Oct. 15

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties will be open on Monday, Oct. 11, which is Columbus Day, but are scheduled to permanently close on Friday, Oct. 15. The centers' hours are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The centers are closed on Sundays.
DRCs are located in:
- Bucks County, Former Genuardi's, 4200 Neshaminy Blvd., Bensalem
- Chester County, Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, Lower Level Room 0422, West Chester
- Delaware County, Darby Township Administration Building, 21 N. Bartram Ave., Darby Township, Glenolden
- Montgomery County, Montgomery County Fire Academy, 1175 Conshohocken Road, Conshohocken
- Philadelphia County, Bartram High School, 2429 S. 67th St. and Elmwood Ave., Philadephia
"We hope that disaster victims who have Columbus Day off will take this opportunity to visit a center," said Jack Schuback, the federal coordinating officer for the Pennsylvania flood disasters. "The DRCs provide a great opportunity to learn more about federal and state assistance programs and to check on the status of your application."
After next Friday's closing, persons who suffered losses or damages as a result of Hurricane Floyd will still be able to apply for assistance by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) toll-free registration number, 1-800-462-9029. Disaster victims who have registered for assistance and have questions about their applications can call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321. The registration number and Helpline number for speech- and hearing-impaired applicants is 1-800-462-7585 (TTY).
