OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency's toll free Disaster Information Helpline is available to aid those affected by Hurricane Floyd.

Disaster victims who need information about available assistance programs or want to learn about the status of their applications for disaster assistance may call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 (TTY 1-800-462-7585).

Under President Clinton's September 24 disaster declaration, residents of 11 Maryland counties who have damages or losses from Hurricane Floyd may be eligible for federal disaster assistance. Renters, homeowners and business owners may apply for assistance by calling FEMA's toll-free registration line at 1-800-462-9029 (TTY 1-800-462-7585).

Hours of operation for the Helpline and the Teleregistration line are 7 a.m to 7 p.m., seven days a week until further notice.
