HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Mitigation experts from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be on-hand to help individuals in the process of repairing their flood-damaged homes and businesses understand their mitigation options.

Mitigation projects can include elevating a home or structure, anchoring a fuel tank, doing landscape stabilization, or installing an interior or exterior foundation drainage system.

Homeowners, renters, contractors, and business-owners, affected by the late-June storms and flooding, can learn more about how to rebuild to prevent future flood losses and damages from mitigation experts at their local hardware store. FEMA mitigation outreach staff, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and Home Depot, will be available at the following location:

Disaster recovery staff will be at the store from
Monday, August 7 until Sunday, August 13
8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
