Wise, VA -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Tazewell will close Wednesday, May 22 at 6 p.m. The center is located at the old County Administration Building and the hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through the closing date.

Federal Coordinating Officer Louis Botta said, "The number of people coming to the Tazewell Recovery Center has decreased significantly. This is a positive sign that people have received important disaster assistance information and are moving ahead on the road to recovery."

Although the center in Tazewell is closing on May 22, information will still be available by calling the FEMA Helpline: 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362). Those with speech or hearing impairments can call TTY 1-800-462-7585.

For flood victims that have yet to register for assistance, you are encouraged to do so by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing- impaired. The number is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
