A Mobile Disaster Recovery Center Opens In Lincoln County

CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- State and federal officials announce the opening of a mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Lincoln County to assist those affected by the July 22 storms. The DRC opens today

Saturday, August 14, and will be open six days a week, Monday through Saturday. The DRC information follows:

Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday

Federal and state disaster recovery officials encourage citizens to apply for disaster assistance by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA's) toll-free number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week until further notice. Persons who are hearing- or speech-impaired can apply by calling a special TTY number, 1-800-462-7585.

Residents who need information on the status of an application already filed or who have questions about the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest loan program or would like assistance with the SBA application form may visit the DRC for help.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
