CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Federal and state officials have announced the closing of the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Chapmanville, Logan County at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 3.

The DRC is located at the Chapmanville High School and has been in operation since June 11. The current hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. If anyone has questions or would like to check on the status of his or her application in person, this should be done by 7 p.m. on the closing date.

The Disaster Recovery Center located at the Logan County High School in Logan will remain in operation after Saturday, July 3.

Residents who have questions after the DRC closes may call the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The FEMA Helpline number is 1-800-621-3362 or, TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech or hearing-impaired. Helpline representatives will be able to give the same information provided by officials at the recovery center.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
