URBANDALE, Iowa -- Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Atlantic and Missouri Valley will have new hours beginning Wednesday, June 20th.  Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) representatives will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to assist those who suffered damage from the May 5 -7 severe storms, floods, and tornadoes. DRC staff can answer questions about disaster assistance and hazard mitigation, help with disaster loan applications, and provide information and contacts for other programs.  The DRCs are open six days a week, Monday through Saturday.

Residents in Cass, Dallas, Fremont, Harrison, Ida, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, Shelby, Taylor and Union Counties are eligible to apply for federal assistance if they suffered storm damage.

Homeowners, renters and business owners affected by the recent storms are encouraged to apply for assistance by calling the telephone registration line, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) during the hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. For applicants with special speech- or hearing- needs, the TTY number is 1-800-462-7585. Applicants may also register online at www.FEMA.gov. Residents are encouraged to register prior to visiting a DRC.

The U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Customer Service Representatives at the DRCs will be available to assist applicants fill out disaster loan applications. SBA offers low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private non-profit organizations. These loans are to repair or replace homes, businesses and personal property damaged by the severe storms, floods and tornadoes.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
