Welcome to IHS Emergency Services

The Office of Emergency Services (ES) provides the overall direction and leadership for the IHS in regard to establishing IHS goals and managing objectives consistent with those the Department of Health and Humans Services (DHHS), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other federal agencies addressing the mission critical elements of:

  • Emergency Management (EM)
  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
  • Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC)
  • Trauma Services (TS)
  • Security Program Services (SPS)

This office promotes, advocates, and coordinates support for American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN) Emergency Services programs and concerns at the local, state, and national level. The IHS Emergency Services website is designed to be the central source of information on IHS's emergency services efforts and initiatives. This site will provide information on the coordination of activities and programs of the Indian Health Service for disasters or emergencies.

The Indian Health Service Emergency Services Division attended the Physical Security Training Program in Glynco, GA. The two week advanced training was provided at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy- Counterterrorism Division in coordination with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in August 2007 on relevant physical security issues and culminated in a physical security survey of actual facilities at the Center.
