ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will join with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to staff a Disaster Recovery Center in Oneonta starting Monday.

The facility will open at noon in the Lowe’s parking lot at 5283 State Highway 23, Oneonta. It will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, until September 15.

The facility will be staffed with FEMA specialists and SBA loan officers that can help with questions on disaster assistance, SBA loan interest disaster loans and ways to build back in more disaster-resistant ways.

The deadline to register for state and federal disaster assistance is October 2. Take the following steps to register for state and federal disaster assistance:

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
