The Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s
Advisory Committee on Nuclear Waste (ACNW) will hold a meeting from October
21-23 in Rockville, Md. The agenda includes a meeting with the Commission, discussion
of the Committee’s upcoming visit to the proposed high-level waste repository
at Yucca Mountain, Nevada, and discussions with the NRC staff on issues related
to pre-closure safety and tunnel degradation at Yucca Mountain. The recent update
to the NRC staff’s performance assessment code for Yucca Mountain will
also be discussed.
The meeting is open to the public, apart from a session that could be closed to discuss personnel matters. The meeting will be held in Room T-2B3 of the agency’s Two White Flint North Building, at 11545 Rockville Pike, apart from the meeting with the Commission on Oct. 23 at 10 a.m., which will be held in the Commissioner’s Conference Room, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 21, and at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 22 and 23.
