NEW NRC RESIDENT
INSPECTOR ASSIGNED |
||
Jeffrey Herrera has been assigned
as the new Nuclear Regulatory Commission resident inspector at the Oyster Creek
nuclear power plant. He joins NRC Resident Inspector Robert Summers at the plant,
located in Forked River, N.J. Herrera replaces Steven Dennis, who accepted a
position at NRC headquarters in Rockville, Md.
Mr. Herrera joined the NRC in May 2001 as an intern in the Region I Division of Reactor Projects in King of Prussia, Pa. After graduating the intern program, he worked as a project engineer in Region I. Prior to joining the agency he worked as a research assistant for Surface Chemists of Florida and as a laboratory technician for Florida Power and Light. Mr. Herrera is a graduate of Florida International University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. His hobbies include hiking and photography. He recently took up the guitar. The Oyster Creek resident inspectors can be reached at 609/693-0702. Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public. |
