NRC ASSIGNS NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR TO CALVERT CLIFFS
Printable Version PDF Icon

Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have selected Joseph M. O’Hara II as a resident inspector at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Station in Lusby, Md. O’Hara joins Senior Resident Inspector Fred Bower at the two-unit site. He succeeds Leonard Cline, who was promoted to Senior Resident Inspector at the James A. FitzPatrick nuclear plant in Scriba, N.Y.

O’Hara joined the NRC in 2002 as a region-based inspector in the Division of Reactor Safety. He also worked as a project engineer in the Region I Division of Reactor Projects. Prior to joining the NRC, O’Hara worked at the Norfolk (Va.) Naval Shipyard.

O’Hara has a Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and a Master’s in engineering management from George Washington University.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interfacing with plant workers and the public.

O’Hara, his wife and children reside in California, Md., where he’s an assistant soccer coach in the St. Mary’s Youth Soccer League.

The Calvert Cliffs resident inspectors can be reached at 410/586-2626.
