NRC NAMES NEW SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS Sue Frix Gagner, who has served as a Public Affairs Officer in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for over 20 years, has been selected as Special Assistant to the Director of Public Affairs. Mrs. Gagner replaces Joe T. Gilliland who recently retired.
Mrs. Gagner began her Federal career service in 1974 as a technical writer in NRC's former Office of Standards Development. Her career in the private sector has included working as a publications specialist, writer, and editor at the General Electric Company, Computer Sciences Corporation, Leasco Corporation, and Unisys.
Earlier, Mrs. Gagner worked as a computer programmer at the U.S. Census Bureau. She worked as a reporter for the Sumter Daily Item and was a public relations specialist for Doremus and Company in Boston.
Mrs. Gagner attended Oklahoma State University and was graduated from Boston University with a bachelor of science degree in public relations. She earned a graduate degree in journalism from the University of South Carolina. While working at the NRC, Mrs. Gagner received her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. She is a native of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
