NRC STAFF TO MEET WITH STP NUCLEAR OPERATING CO. |
||
Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with representatives of the STP Nuclear Operating Co. on Tuesday, January 18, to discuss an NRC initiative that would provide greater flexibility in scheduling repairs without increasing the risk of a safety problem at the South Texas Project nuclear plant near Bay City, Tex. The meeting, which will be open to public observation, will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. at NRC’s Region IV office at 611 Ryan Plaza Drive, Arlington, Tex. Before the session is adjourned, NRC staff will be available to answer questions from the public. STP is participating in an NRC pilot program to test a risk-informed regulatory initiative. The proposed change to the plant’s technical specifications would permit the company to extend the time to repair systems, structures and components on the basis of their risk significance. |
