San Antonio, TX -- State and federal officials announce that individual assistance is available for residents of Webb County who were affected by Tropical Storm Fay. The county was added to the list of the eligible counties based on a review of damage data gathered by federal and state disaster recovery officials.

On September 26, President Bush declared nine counties in Texas as major disaster areas: Brazoria, Frio, Galveston, La Salle, Live Oak, Matagorda, Nueces, San Patricio and Wharton. On October 4 the county of Jim Wells was added to the list. The county of Webb will be added as the eleventh declared county for this disaster.

Residents and business owners in the declared counties are eligible to apply for a wide range of state and federal disaster assistance programs under the major disaster declaration issued by President Bush. The aid can include funding for temporary housing, U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest loans for individuals and businesses to repair or replace damaged property, disaster unemployment assistance, and grants for serious needs and necessary expenses not met by other programs.
