Toledo, OH -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recovery specialists will be available for a few more days through Saturday at the downtown Disaster Recovery Center. On Monday (Sept. 18) the facility will open as a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Workshop to provide application assistance with low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters and business owners.

The center, located on the first floor of the Federal Building at 234 N. Summit St., will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and reopen next week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday until further notice.

"Federal and state disaster assistance is still only a phone call away," Lou Botta, FEMA's Federal Coordinating Officer, said. "Once flood victims have applied for assistance, they are given a toll-free Helpline number to check on the status of their application, update information, provide referral numbers for specific programs, or answer any questions they may have about disaster assistance."

The Helpline number is 800-525-0321 or TTY 800-462-7585 for the speech or hearing impaired. The phone lines are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and multi-lingual operators are available to take your call.

"If you still have disaster assistance questions, we hope that you will take advantage of the free services available at the disaster recovery center," State Coordinating Officer Dale Shipley, Ohio Emergency management Agency (Ohio EMA), said.

Anyone in Lucas County who suffered damage or loss from the storms and flooding which occurred July 29 through August 2 should apply for assistance by calling toll-free, 800-462-9029. People with hearing or speech impairments may call TTY 800-462-7585. This one toll-free phone call is the only way to apply for disaster assistance. Both lines are operational from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The application deadline is Friday, October 20. Assistance can continue beyond the deadline, but you must call and apply by October 20 to be considered for state and federal disaster assistance programs.
