Dededo, GUAM -- Effective Friday February 21, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will no longer accept debris at the reduction site located in Asan. The reduction site closure marks another milestone in the Guam recovery efforts.

The Asan reduction site is being closed ahead of schedule to enhance the Corps' ability to manage debris at the site. Closure of the site will allow a measurement of the debris to be taken, followed by the final debris reduction process.

As reduction sites are closed, the metals are being transported to a recycler, construction debris is going to a hardfill, and the vegetative debris will be ground up into mulch and made available to the general public for beneficial reuse.

Residents will continue to have access to the four remaining sites located at Yigo, Tamuning, Dededo, and Barrigada. These remaining reduction sites will be closed in the near future.
