Lufkin, TX -- Ground and air search operations for the Columbia Shuttle Recovery in East Texas are expected to end on Wednesday, April 30. This date also signals the transition of management of all continuing recovery operations west of Texas from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to NASA.

"Even though we will have cleared all known Columbia material from the primary search area by the end of the month, it is possible that area residents may over time discover additional debris," said Michael Rudolphi, NASA Oversight Manager.

Reports of suspected shuttle material finds should continue to be reported to the toll-free 1-866-446-6603 number. Trained operators will record calls and notify proper authorities to have the suspected debris investigated.
