WACO, Texas -- A Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) is coming to Walker County to offer assistance to residents and businesses affected by the June 16 - August 3 severe storms and flooding, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today. Recovery specialists will be available to answer questions residents and business owners may have about the disaster aid process. The MDRC will open in Huntsville on Saturday, September 8 and operate daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through Thursday, September 12.  It will be located at:

1313 University Ave.
Huntsville, Texas 77340

After its service in Huntsville, the MDRC will continue visiting affected communities throughout the region.

Disaster recovery centers are a one-stop shop for affected individuals to learn more about the disaster aid process. Individuals can meet one-on-one with disaster recovery specialists to check on the status of their application, learn about other types of aid that may be available, and receive information about how to avoid future disaster losses when repairing or rebuilding. Customer service representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration will be on hand to answer questions and help homeowners, renters, businesses of any size, and private non-profit organizations fill out loan applications. These federal low-interest loans cover costs of repair or replacement of damaged real estate, personal property and business assets not fully covered by insurance or other aid.

Texans in declared counties are encouraged to register before visiting a DRC. To register, individuals can call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for individuals with speech or hearing impairment. Online registration is also available at www.fema.gov. The deadline for registration is October 29, 2007.
