Weather Across the Nation

West: A frontal system extends from western Montana to Central California, the tail end of the front is moving south down the coast producing showers in San Francisco and Sacramento and reaching Los Angeles late today. Winter storm warnings are in effect for the Sierras to the Bitterroots with up to a foot of snow forecast for these areas.

Midwest: A warm front will bring rain to an area from Minnesota to the Ohio Valley today.

South: High pressure will keep the South largely dry today with the exception of rain along the Texas Gulf Coast. Temperatures are running 10 to 20 degrees above average across the South. 25 locations set records yesterday and clear skies will lead to more record-setting potential from Texas to the Carolinas.

Northeast: Mainly sunny skies will dominate the region for one more day until the threat of showers returns late in the day on Wednesday. Expect temperatures five to ten degrees above seasonal averages, highs will range from 70's in the mid Atlantic to 40s in Northern New England. (NWS, Various Media Sources)

Florida Power and Light (FPL) has provided the following power restoration data, and full restoration dates, weather permitting, of the remaining 113,000 outages (reduced from 181,900 November 6), as of 8:00 pm EST November 7:

Tropical Activity

There are no tropical cyclones in the Atlantic, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, or Eastern Pacific Ocean.

In the Western Pacific Ocean Tropical Storm 23W is about 700 miles west of Guam and continues to move away to the west at 14 mph. No watches or warnings are currently in effect. (National Hurricane Center, Central Pacific Hurricane Center Joint Typhoon Warning Center)

Earthquake Activity

A light earthquake occurred at 9:47 pm EST on Monday Nov 7. The magnitude 4.4 event was located in central Alaska 129 miles southwest of Fairbanks, AK. The depth was estimated to be 8 miles. There were no reports of injuries or damages. (USDOI/USGS, National Earthquake Information Center)
